Personal Finance Tracker ("the app") is a personal, single-user application operated by one individual for their own use. The operator is the only user and the only data subject, and the app connects only to the operator's own financial accounts.
Using Plaid, the app accesses the operator's own account and transaction information via Plaid's Transactions product (transaction history plus the account balances bundled with it). It does not use Plaid's Auth, Identity, Assets, Liabilities, or other products, and does not collect data belonging to any other person.
Data is used solely to generate the operator's private financial analysis (spending distribution, daily and monthly balances, net worth over time). It is never used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond the operator's personal analysis.
All financial data is stored locally on the operator's personal computer, whose disk is fully encrypted (FileVault). Plaid API credentials and access tokens are stored in the operating system's encrypted keychain, never in plaintext. Data in transit uses TLS 1.2 or higher.
We do not sell, rent, or share the data with any third party. The data never leaves the operator's device, and no third-party analytics or advertising services are used.
This website is purely informational. It has no forms, no accounts, no cookies, and no analytics, and it collects no information from visitors.
Financial data is retained locally only as long as it is useful for the operator's personal
analysis, and is reviewed at least annually. It is deleted by removing the local files (the
encrypted disk renders deleted data unrecoverable). Account access can be revoked at any time
by removing the item through Plaid (/item/remove), which also deletes the stored
access token.
